Week Five: Favorite book presentations are happening! Check the Reading 8:00 blog page to see finished trailers, comics, and posters.
Week Four: Favorites! Students are sharing favorite books by creating a visual aid: a character-driven ComicLife, a book talk poster, or a book trailer using iMovie. Projects will be on the website when they are completed!
Week Three: We read the script, The Book that Saved the Earth, and talked about how setting, character, and plot are conveyed through dialogue and stage directions. Students rehearsed roles and culminated the week with a Reader's Theater performance on Friday.
Week Two: Non-fiction texts share information. Students looked at a variety of non-fiction texts, including: cookbooks, sports books, historical reference books, biographies, short informative articles, and more. Each student chose a topic and designed a slideshow or comic to share with the class.
Week One: The setting reveals the time, place, and mood of a story. Using Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library and students' favorite books, we practiced identifying the setting of stories and learned how the setting influences a story.
Our class Read Aloud is Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein.
